THE NIGHTINGALE AND THE ROSE
A brand new opera by John O’Brien
We are enormously proud to present the world premiere concert performance of a brand new opera by John O’Brien, inspired by Oscar Wilde’s timeless story, The Nightingale and the Rose.
For the last year or more, John O’Brien, conductor and director of Everyman operas such as Pagliacci and Faust, has been working on this beautiful new composition. In this very special one-off concert performance, we gather together some of the finest singers and musicians, in partnership with Cork Orchestral Society, to give this music its first breath.
This is an extraordinary chance to be present at the first presentation of a work which we hope ultimately can be brought to full production. Come and join us for an evening of operatic enchantment!
“Whether as conductor, musician, director or arranger, John O’Brien has brought ambition and inspiration to dozens of productions. Nowadays, any time O’Brien makes new work, it’s big news” Irish Examiner
