It’s Christmas Eve, 2006, and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his ageing brother, who’s recently gone blind.

Old drinking buddies Ivan and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play cards. But with the arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised from a friendly card game to a soul-taking, all-in showdown.

Kilmeen Drama Group are based in Rossmore, Co. Cork.  They compete annually in the 3 Act & 1 Act amateur festival circuits. Kilmeen have appeared in the 3 Act Open All Ireland’s, held in Athlone, on 20 occasions, winning the coveted All Ireland title 4 times since 2006.

In 2006 Kilmeen won with Tom Murphy’s  A Crucial Week in the Life of a Grocer’s Assistant. 2011 saw their next win with another of Tom Murphy’s plays A Whistle in the Dark.  In 2012 Kilmeen completed a 2-in-a-row win with Conor McPherson’s The Weir.  In 2013, Kilmeen completed a historic 3-in-a-row All-Ireland win with J.M. Synge’s The Playboy of the Western World

Kilmeen have also won the 1 Act Open All Ireland in 2011 with Enda Walsh’s Disco Pigs.

All of the cast have been involved with Kilmeen Drama Group for many years, and have all performed in All-Ireland Winning performances for the group down through the years.
