Sarah McKenzie is an Australian jazz pianist, vocalist, and bandleader whose breezy technical style, song writing acumen, and pronounced lyrical sense of swing have drawn comparisons to Blossom Dearie and Diana Krall.
She will open the 40th edition of the Cork Jazz Festival following sell-out performances at festivals all over the world including the Montreux Jazz Festival.
Sarah is a musical marvel. She sings with the kind of phrasing that only a true jazz singer can come up with while her groove on the piano is the stuff that makes people want to play jazz. She has recorded four albums, gaining worldwide fame with her 2012’s ‘Close Your Eyes’, spreading her reputation beyond Australia’s shore.
Always studying, she won that same year a full scholarship to the famous Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Since then she has been snapped up by the Impulse label and has rocketed to the forefront of mainstream jazz.
Don’t miss a chance to hear this phenomenal performer make her Irish debut!
