RONNIE SCOTT’S ALL-STARS + SCOTT HAMILTON
Guinness Cork Jazz Festival 2017
Superb double bill with RONNIE SCOTT’S ALL-STARS and SCOTT HAMILTON & THE CHAMPIAN FULTON TRIO
RONNIE SCOTT’S ALL-STARS
Direct from London’s world-famous jazz club and combining world-class jazz, narration and rare archive images, The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars take to the stage of The Everyman to celebrate the Jazz Club’s exclusive linkage with the 2017 Guinness Cork Jazz Festival. Ronnie Scott’s is the most historic venue of its kind on this side of the Atlantic Ocean and has always been on the cutting edge; the first place to catch rising stars, visionary artists, and the best performers in jazz.
The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars will be presenting their ‘Soho Songbook’ show at The Everyman, a musical glimpse into a unique world and its incredible history, led by the Club’s Musical Director and pianist James Pearson. It will feature many classics from the ‘Great American Songbook’ and is a ‘must’ for all jazz lovers. This concert will also be a celebration of the dry wit of Ronnie Scott, the Club founder and jazz sax legend who performed as the headliner at the first edition of the Cork Jazz Festival, forty years ago.
Line up: Natalie Williams – vocals, James Pearson – piano, Alex Garnett – sax, Sam Burgess – double bass, Chris Higginbottom – drums
SCOTT HAMILTON & the CHAMPIAN FULTON TRIO
If you like the beauty and joy of jazz standards interpreted with improvisation at the highest level, this concert is for you!
A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Scott Hamilton is one of the great swinging jazz artists, following in the footsteps of legends such as Ben Webster, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and Stan Getz. With a fat, buttery sound, this tenor sax giant was at the forefront of the new generation of jazz musicians that helped revive the sophisticated sound of small-group swing.
